Feature Comparison

Enterprise scale

Enterprise supports unlimited repository connections and custom workflows across the organization. Gitar supports unlimited changed files per PR, with context selected for the review.

Usage Limits

Enterprise is exempt from the per-author full-review allowances and the cost-based processing budget described here. Core and Pro follow the usage policy below. Full-review allowances are being measured during rollout. The existing budget policy continues to apply. Enforced allowances will be published here when available. When a full review is deferred, Gitar keeps existing findings visible and shows when review capacity becomes available. Findings can still be rechecked. The deferred report does not issue a new approval for the unreviewed commit.

Open Source Plan

Gitar is free for vetted open-source projects. The Open Source plan includes everything in Pro, plus unlimited seats. Every contributor is covered, with no seats to assign.

Eligibility

Projects are reviewed and approved by Gitar. To qualify:
  • An OSI-approved open-source license. Applications are reviewed individually, and commercial open-source products generally don’t qualify.
  • Public repositories only. Private repos are never processed on this plan, even when they belong to the same organization.
  • Hosted on github.com or gitlab.com. Self-hosted GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps aren’t available on this plan.
Each repository is approved individually. Repos that haven’t been added to your account’s allowlist will not be processed.

Applying

Apply through the Gitar for OSS application form, the same form linked from gitar.ai. You’ll be asked for a contact email and links to the repositories you’d like covered. Only apply if you are an owner or admin of those repositories, since installing the Gitar app requires it. Gitar reviews each application and follows up with next steps.

Attribution

Gitar’s comments on Open Source organizations include a short attribution identifying free open-source access. Other organizations do not show this line.

Troubleshooting

Gitar posts that message when your organization is on a paid plan (Core or Pro) and no admin has allocated you a seat yet.
  • Ask a team admin to assign you a seat from the organization settings at app.gitar.ai
  • During a trial period, seats are not enforced and all members have full access
  • See Members & Seats for more details
